STEPPING INTO YOUR PROPHETIC DESTINY

PART FIVE

“COMBINING YOUR PROPHETIC WORDS WITH A LISTENING EAR”

By Stephen Young

This week is the final part to this series. Combining your prophetic words with a listening ear. It is very important that we take every prophetic word, every promise from God seriously. What I’ve learned for myself is that I have to combine my own personal prophetic words with a listening ear, an ear listening to what God is saying. Let me explain.

If you’ve ever experienced anyone giving you a prophetic word over your life you know that sometimes that word can span years. It can be overwhelming and it can be a lot to take in. In fact, it can sometimes be so much to take in that you end up doing nothing with it because it’s too overwhelming and you’re trying to figure it out on your own. You have to combine that word with listening to the Lord for yourself and the direction He’s giving you for this time that you are in.

Sometimes the mistake that we make, listen closely, is we revolve our entire life around only the prophetic word and we don’t take time to listen to what the Lord is saying to us directly. I know what you’re thinking, “Isn’t a prophetic word from God?” Yes it is, but you also need to hear the Lord for yourself, that’s why it’s vital that you combine your prophetic word with a listening ear. Sometimes what we do when we need direction is we run to our word or we seek out a word. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that, I run to my word all the time. However, at the same time I’m looking at the words that have been spoken over my life I’m also asking the Lord what steps He wants me to take as I walk out this prophetic word.

It’s hard to walk on the prophetic word alone because it doesn’t usually give you detailed steps of how it’s going to happen. This is why there needs to be a combination of prophetic words and listening ears.

There was a time not long ago that I sat down with all my prophetic words that have ever been spoken over me and looked at them, and looked at them, and looked at them. The more I looked, the more I struggled and then I heard the Lord say, “Why don’t you ask me what I want you to do.” Wow, point taken! Again, the prophecies are from the Lord but they typically encompass a broad period of time and we have to seek the Lord to know the steps along the way.

So, what I had to do was push every prophetic word, every promise, every word of knowledge aside and say, “Lord, what do you want, I need to hear directly from you, for myself.” You’ll never guess what happened, I heard from the Lord! When I began to hear the steps He wanted me to take I went back to the prophecies and I found that everything linked together and everything became clearer.

You must combine your prophetic words with a listening ear. You can’t depend, all the time, on someone else hopefully hearing from God and giving you what you need. Because, in reality, the prophetic word should just confirm something the Lord has already revealed to you. You need to hear the steps you need to take to get from one part of your word to another. That can only be done by spending time with God yourself and letting Him reveal those steps to you.

I hope this has helped some of you over the past few weeks, God Bless!
