New Mexico Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Porn

Quote in the Albuquerque Journal this morning:

“Hosting one erotic film festival does not make the Guild Cinema an adult amusement establishment any more than a club that plays jazz music one night out of the year is a jazz club.” Says Peter Simonson of the ACLU of New Mexico on the State’s Supreme Court’s ruling that the Nob Hill Theater in Albuquerque is not such an establishment and didn’t commit a zoning violation for PORNOTOPIA.

The New Mexico Supreme Court has ruled in favor of an adult film festival in Albuquerque.

Organizers of the Albuquerque Pornotopia Adult Film Festival fought with the city over zoning issues and had to cancel the event two years in a row.

Pornotopia took place at the Guild Cinema in Nob Hill in 2007 and 2008, but the city then cited the theatre for breaking the adult amusement ordinance.
