Drug Mess in Major League Baseball!

mlbfansThe owners need not pay any of the guys million dollar salaries! This is just a plain mess and a 50 game suspension is nothing to these guys. In 2005, in light of accusations of steroid use against the three players who had, by then, hit more than 61 home runs in a season (Mark McGwireSammy Sosa and Barry Bonds), the North Dakota Senate wrote to Major League Baseball and “urged” that Roger Maris’ 61 home runs be recognized as the single season record.[20] Newman Signs Inc., which holds the naming rights to Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, continues to use billboard signage to declare Maris is the “legitimate home run king.”[21]  Major League Baseball is prepared to announce suspensions Monday in the Biogenesis clinic case and has given the players involved a Sunday deadline to decide whether they will accept or appeal their suspensions, a baseball official with knowledge of the investigation told USA TODAY Sports on Friday.

MLB also has given New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez a choice, according to a second baseball official familiar with their intentions: accept a suspension through the 2014 season or face a lifetime ban. The two officials were unauthorized to speak publicly about the situation since the talks are private.

MLB is expected to announce that at least eight players have been suspended 50 games, with virtually all of them expected to accept their penalty. Ryan Braun, the 2011 National League MVP, accepted a 65-game suspension last week. Yet, while all of the names in the Biogenesis probe are expected to be revealed, Rodriguez’s fate could remain undecided if the sides negotiate.

I believe that all players found guilty should be banned for a lifetime. Pete Rose got a lifetime ban for gambling, betting on games, these guys should face the same penalty, as they use the drugs to enhance their play and like McGwire, Sosa, and Bonds break records. The drug use also destroy’s their bodies causing breakdowns, like A-Rod has been going through.

Braun of Milwaukee should have been suspended for life, not 50 games, he  lied like A-Rod about the use of the drugs.

My hero, Harmon Killebrew spoke out about this before he died, he hit his 500 plus homers CLEAN!

Baseball is a reflection of our society, this must be addressed aggressively, not 50 game suspensions. It will be interesting to see what happens in A-Rod’s case. He has been a mess for years and baseball just stood by let him wag his tail.
