The City Clerk says her office has certified more than 9,800 of the 12,091 signatures needed to get the question on a ballot. Even though they have time to certify more, there won’t be time for city council to approve a resolution and get the question on the ballot. Deadlines are set by a state statute.
Voters could still decide on the ban through a special election, Nov. 19th is the tentative date for a City runoff election. A runoff election takes place if no candidate in a particular race gets at least 50 percent of the vote in October, then the top two candidates take part in a runoff election.
Supporters of the Late Term Abortion Ban in Albuquerque issued this statement:
“We are confident it will pass on a special election ballot. However, in order to save the city money we will ask that the City Councilors adopt the ordinance. The people have spoken – 27,000 in 20 days.”
What a movement by God’s people! Now we have to continue to pray this effort through! Let us be in constant prayer that Late Term Abortion, ALL ABORTION end!
I love this quote by Pastor Mark Batterson: “Whether we write lyrics or craft legislation, sell homes or teach classes, design spaces or open franchises, prayer is a critical part of the creative process. Don’t just brainstorm; praystorm.”
