Bells Ring at National Cathedral to Cheer Gay Marriage

washington_cathedralWashington D.C.- It is a sign of the times we live,  the National Cathedral is pealing its church bells, along with some other Washington D.C. “churches”, to celebrate the Supreme Court’s decisions on gay marriage.

Cathedral spokesman Richard Weinberg said the bells rang at noon Wednesday for 45 minutes to an hour. Bells also rang at other Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian, Unitarian and other “Christian churches”.

The cathedral scheduled a prayer service for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender families Wednesday at 7 p.m. to celebrate the ruling.

What is going on here? Why are these so called “churches” heralding such open sinful behavior? The answer is simple and straight forward. They have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof.  (2 Timothy 3:5)

Churches that claim to be “Christian” are such in name only. The “power thereof” refers to the authority of the Lord. If we are bought with a price, do we have the right to disobey God? If we disobey God, we have not repented of our disobedience and sin, we have not believed the Lord in a way that brings us the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

My point is that we have chosen to ignore the Lord and the authority of His word. America’s churches are celebrating sin. America has been measured and will be found wanting as her judgement comes in the next few years. Church, it is time to humble ourselves and seek the Lord!
