Homosexual “Rights” Trump Christian Beliefs
Sometimes all you can do is stand in the gap. Yesterday, Thursday, January 31, every bill of concern to the Christian community in the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee was tabled. The bill that would allow homosexual “marriage” moved forward.
The 40-seat chamber in which the Committee met was filled to capacity. People started lining up at 11:30 a.m. for the 2:00 p.m. meeting that lasted until 6:30 p.m. Many were not seated.

HJR 3 Same-Sex marriage licenses Brian Egolf (D-Santa Fe)
The Bill states, “Issuance of a marriage license shall not be denied on the basis that the sex of both applicants is the same.”

Opposed: Anderson, Harper
Outcome: Do Pass- The vote means the bill moves on two other House Committees and then to the House floor
HB 98 Dennis Roch (R-Tucumcari) Creating a religious belief exemption
Allowing persons with deeply held religious beliefs to be exempt from performing services that violate their conscience.
In Favor: Anderson
Opposed: Alcon, Chasey, Roybal-Caballero, Harper
Outcome: Tabled
HB 122, Nora Espinoza (R-Roswell) Woman’s Right to Know
Requires an ultrasound and an audible heartbeat of the fetus to be provided to the pregnant woman seeking an abortion.
In Favor: Anderson, Harper

Outcome: Tabled
HB 177 Alonzo Baldonado (R-Los Lunas) Parental Notification Rights Act
Parents of a pregnant child sixteen years old or younger must be informed of a pending abortion.In Favor: Anderson, Harper
