Obama’s Obsession — I

Almost every day when you pick up the newspaper or turn on the TV, it seems there is some new way that the Obama Administration is promoting the radical homosexual public policy agenda. The issue is its obsession.

Today’s Washington Post has a lengthy story about Uganda’s new law criminalizing homosexual behavior. The headline reads: “Ugandan President Defies U.S., Signs Anti-Gay Bill.” The subtitle warns: “Western Aid At Risk; White House Describes Law As Abhorrent.”

The new Ugandan law is harsh. But contrast the administration’s handling of Uganda to its treatment of Iran. Several years ago, Iran’s president told students at Columbia University, “In Iran, we don’t have homosexuals like in your country. … In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon.” Homosexuals are hung in the Islamic Republic.

Yesterday, Secretary of State John Kerry blasted the Ugandan law as “abhorrent,” and added that the Obama Administration would initiate “an internal review of our relationship.”

And while we are threatening to cut off aid to Uganda, an ally, John Kerry is responsible for negotiating, on behalf of the Obama Administration, an end to sanctions against Iran. This administration is sending billions of dollars to Tehran in exchange for false promises about nuclear weapons.

I do not recall hearing the president speak out against the mistreatment of homosexuals in Iran. For that matter, I have not heard him speak out against the abuse of heterosexuals in Iran either. Obama largely ignored the pro-Western Green revolution when it erupted in the streets of Tehran and was brutally suppressed.

And after five years I cannot find one example of Obama threatening to cut off aid to any Muslim country for the systematic persecution and murder of Christians.

Obama’s Obsession — II

Meanwhile, here at home, the attorney general of United States took time out of his day to tell state attorneys general that they should refuse to defend the laws of their states if they feel those laws are discriminatory. Of course, Eric Holder was talking about laws defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Six state attorneys general have followed Holder’s lead and refused to defend the marriage laws of their states.

So we are supposed to believe that from 1776 until 2011, when Barack Obama announced that his administration would no longer support the federal Defense of Marriage Act in court, every president and virtually all elected officials were bigots because they believed in traditional marriage.

The people in a majority of states in this union have voted for laws saying that they want the definition of marriage, which has prevailed for more than 220 years, to remain the same. Are they all bigots too?

How is it that in about five years, we have gone from accepting those laws to having the highest legal officer in the country telling state attorneys general that they don’t have to defend them? This is a very dangerous precedent. A government this lawless on marriage will be lawless on other issues too.

Stop The IRS

While we’re on the topic of government lawlessness, it’s time to rein in the IRS. The targeting of conservative organizations and Christian ministries was “outrageous,” as Obama said. Lois Lerner, a top IRS official, pled the fifth and refused to testify about her role in the scandal. Yet the outrageous behavior continues.

With its harassment efforts exposed, the IRS is now attempting to impose draconian new rules that would effectively muzzle the very organizations they were previously targeting. But the bureaucrats have run into a problem: There is a growing revolt against these new rules from left-wing groups fearful that if the regulations are enforced evenly they would be shut down too.

The ACLU has released a “blistering” analysis of the IRS rules, warning that they strike “at the heart of our representative democracy.” The Sierra Club and other liberal groups are joining the fight against the new rules.

So far, more than 69,000 public comments regarding these new rules targeting social welfare organizations have been submitted for consideration. That is a huge number. The Wall Street Journal notes that regulations involving the Keystone pipeline generated just over 7,500 comments.

TAKE ACTION: The deadline to submit public comments on these proposed IRS regulations is February 27th. The IRS needs to know what you think about this new rule — IRS REG-134417-13.

Tell the IRS how much you appreciate the voter educational activities of social welfare organizations, and that you oppose government efforts to muzzle them.

NFL To Ban N-Word?

There is an effort underway in the National Football League to ban the use of the N-word. A first offense would result in a 15-yard penalty. A second offense could get a player ejected from the game.

What’s driving this? It’s not racism from white players. Sadly, the word has become so widely used among young black players that owners are disgusted when they hear it.

Dan Rooney, owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, reportedly told his players, “I don’t want that word in the locker room. I don’t want the word in the music you play. I don’t want the word on the field in the game. … We are better than that. We’re not gonna have it.” Good for him.

Black sports writer Jason Whitlock applauded the NFL saying, “The people that love the N-word and love to use it are part of a culture that is still hostile towards black people, still anti-education and still very violent towards black people and I’m talking about the black people that are in love with this word. If you examine the culture that the N-word represents, it represents a culture that is anti-black.” I couldn’t agree more.
