Amtrak trains into and out of Albuquerque are being delayed due to the derailment west of the city on Thursday.

According to New Mexico State Police, the empty train was traveling near I-40 on Laguna Pueblo when strong winds seemed to cause the train to tip over. The train cars were empty, so nothing spilled at the scene.

Track sensors alerted an approaching train of the derailment and it was able to stop in time.
