sunsetJohn 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Last night as I was cooking dinner I glanced out the window to see another gorgeous sunset. The colors were pink and orange with clouds still faintly visible.  The Lord never ceases to amaze me with the beauty He has created! He is so amazing! The Master painter and maker of all things good.

I love to make things!  When I was a little girl, I remember Mom teaching me to crochet. She told me, “See Rae? You take this little hook and a piece of string and you can make something beautiful from it!”

Something from nothing. That is what the Lord did. He knew everything we would need and created it!

We know that in the verses above “the Word” is Jesus. The scriptures tell us this:

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

The King of Glory chose to leave His heavenly throne to come as a baby and live on the earth. Why? It was the only way we could ever be reconciled to Holy God……..by accepting His Holy Son, by believing on Him and proclaiming Him Lord of our life. He was born to die…..to take all our sin, sickness and burdens and was raised to give us eternal life in Him and peace.

I couldn’t go through a single day without my Jesus. When I met Him I was at my lowest point ever. I had made a mess of things. I had nowhere else to turn but to Him. As soon as I asked Him to forgive me for my sins and asked Him to come into my heart to be my Lord and Savior, I felt a huge burden lifted from me. I don’t know how……it’s a mystery only He knows, but I felt lighter and freer than I had in years. I knew something wonderful had happened in me.

Romans 10:8-11 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scriptures say, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

Made new….created in Him. Something from nothing. A dead spirit to one alive in Him! In Him was life! In Him IS life!

Today, as you look around at the beauty of creation, I want you to think on Jesus, the One who came to earth for you. Think  of new life in Him……the old is passed away, behold, the new has come!

Holy Spirit, life us and refresh us….youth us and restore us…..reveal the Christ in us and draw those who don’t know You, Lord. May You Name be praised forever and always. Amen.
