PEARCE PARTICIPATES IN FORTY-FIFTH ANNUAL MARCH FOR LIFE

Washington, D.C. (January 19, 2018) Congressman Steve Pearce released the following statement after participating in the forty-fifth annual March for Life event on the National Mall:

“No matter the circumstances, no matter the challenges, life is always a blessing. The size of the crowd and sheer volume of participation at this year’s March for Life was inspiring. Even more remarkable is the involvement that continues to grow each year by millennials who are amplifying their voices in support of life, causing the government to pay attention and respond. These young adults are truly the force behind this movement. I applaud the courage of those who stand up for the most innocent, most defenseless of lives that are all too often ignored, and for speaking out for those who don’t have a voice.

Today, as I looked out in the crowd, I saw mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, and grandparents who are passionately defending and cherishing the sanctity of life.  I will continue to fight for the unborn who rely on all of us, not as elected officials, but as their voice and their protection for a future that they have a right to live.”

Today, the House passed the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that ensures children born alive during an abortion procedure receives the same care as any other child. This bill establishes criminal penalties for practitioners who intentionally kill or harm a baby born alive or attempt to harvest body parts. Mothers who receive an abortion will not be prosecuted, and have grounds to file civil action.
