Anxious Much?

Proverbs 12:25 (NKJV): Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.

We are in times where it seems like everything is going wrong around us. People are getting laid off. People are sick. People are losing loved ones. Many are suffering from memories of their past. It seems like this is becoming more and more frequent.

We need to remember that these are some of the things that had been promised to come. Why? Because of the brokenness of our sinful nature.

Romans 5:12-14 (NKJV): Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— 13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

Let’s keep this simple today, Let’s look at Proverbs 25:12 again: Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.

Do you see what Solomon said here? A good word makes it glad. Why do you suppose he pointed that out? It would seem that it’s because when we find joy in something, it lifts our hearts. It makes us feel good.

Take a look at Romans 5 a little further in the chapter.

Romans 5:15-19 (NKJV): But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. 16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. 17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

We find that we can find joy if we look at what Jesus did for us. He gave us an opportunity to return to God’s graces. He gave us the gift of life. It’s up to us to either receive that and find the hope that Paul refers to in verse 5: Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

My question to you is, are you going to remain anxious? Will you receive His gift today? Will you choose to find a Good Word in bury it in your heart?

Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it.

We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already. If you need help, have questions or need direction in this regard, please, feel free to let me know.
