Welcome to the Windom Revival Radio Program! We are so very blessed to have you with us! This morning I want to talk to you about being in a crisis. Dr. Michelle Bengtson writes for us at FGGAM.ORG. Dr. Michelle wrote about what the family did when they faced the devastating news that her husband was diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Michelle writes, We put our trust in God. After all, the diagnosis came as no surprise to God. Neither did the solution. Something we did not do was ask God “Why?”

When facing the devastating news of my husband’s diagnosis of cancer, we asked ourselves, “What are we going to do?”

What could we do?

We put our trust in God. After all, the diagnosis came as no surprise to God. Neither did the solution.

Something we didn’t do was ask God “Why?” In times of crisis, I’ ve never found that good would come from asking “Why?” That question was simply a waste of our time. Does the answer to “Why?” make someone feel significantly better?

The answers to “How?” and “What?” seem more helpful.
“How will we make it through this crisis?”
“How will we cope?”
We prayed and asked God, “What is Your will?”

1. We chose to trust the God who created my husband and knit him in his mother’s womb.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” (Psalm 139:13-14).

2. We trusted God to be with us.
“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” (Deuteronomy 31:8).

3. We trusted God to be our refuge.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging” (Psalm 46:1-3).

4. We trusted God to be our strength.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10).

5. We trusted God to be our comfort.
“May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant” (Psalm 119:76).

6. We trusted that despite cancer, God is good.
“Praise the Lord, Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever” (Psalm 106:1).

7. We trusted that God has a plan.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

8. We trusted that God is sovereign.
“For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen” (Romans 11:36).

We still trust God. Even when we do not understand or when we cannot see, we trust that He is with us, He’s our refuge, our strength, our comfort, He is good, His plan is perfect, and He is sovereign.

Trust requires faith. It requires that we believe even when we cannot see.

Will you trust Him today?
