What Are a Child’s First Words?

What are a child’s first words? I have a 20 month old daughter who is starting to babble words, but I sit with anticipation waiting to hear her first real word(s). As her father, I want her first word to be, “Daddy”. Her mother, wants her first word to be, “Mommy”. Either way, it will be exciting to hear those first words. It will tell us that she recognizes us as her parents and from birth she has learned to recognize us and trust us as her protectors, providers, and comforters. My prayer for the children of New Mexico is found in Psalm 91:2, “I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.” My desire is to hear a generation rise up in New Mexico, and America, that say, “my God in whom I trust.” Right now, children are trusting in a myriad of things that are temporary and empty. The things of this world, pride, lust, and the evils of this world are all vain and provide no real foundation for a person’s life. As children grow, God wants to hear them say, “My Father, I trust in you.” Just like I want my daughter to recognize me as her father, protector, and provider, God wants the children of this state and this country to recognize Him as their Heavenly Father, their cornerstone, their healer from sin. But how will they call upon Him, if they’ve never heard of him? Did you know that out of the roughly 630,000 children in New Mexico, only about 37,000 go to an evangelical church (BestPlaces.net/religion/state/newmexico). That’s about 6% of the children in New Mexico that are under the sound of Biblical teaching and the Gospel weekly, if they go to church every week. Child Evangelism Fellowship of New Mexico wants to change this. We exist solely to evangelize children with the Gospel, disciple them in the Word of God, and establish them in a local Bible believing church. That has been our goal since 1935. We provide the training, the curriculum, and all of the tools that you need to reach the boys and girls of your community with the Gospel. That’s right, you! One of the ways this can be done is in the PUBLIC SCHOOLS! The US Supreme Court has allowed equal access to the public schools for Good News Clubs (Bible Clubs) in the schools, if the school allows any other extra-curricular activity at the school. God wants you to reach them! Children are the most over-looked mission field in the world, but they are also the most spiritually sensitive portion of the population. It takes an army of child evangelist to do this serving in the capacity that they are gifted and skilled in.

What do you want to hear children say?
