What Is Your Miracle?

We all have had miracles in our life. look around you, they are all over, miracles are happening today!  Take time today to soak in what God has done for you. No matter how bleak things can get at times God is with us. I want to share with you one of my miracles. When I was 4 1/2 years old, I started to limp, my Daddy saw this and he along with my Mommy took me to the Doctor. Doctor Harold Basinger, classmate of my Daddy, took x-rays, and didn’t like what he saw, the hip disappearing, causing my right leg to be shorter than my left. We were sent to the Mankato, Minnesota Hospital, the biggest Hospital most near my hometown of Windom, Minnesota.  The Doctor that examined me was 6 foot 7 Doc Meredith! I met a friend of his a couple years ago here in Albuquerque and he told me that Doc had passed away. You can imagine how a 4 year old felt having this tall Doctor look down on you as you laid on his exam table. That picture his stuck in my mind forever along with his first words after checking me over, “I don’t think Dwayne (My birth name) will ever walk and run like the other children.” Needless to say that crushed my heart along with Mommy and Daddy. God had other plans, I was fitted with a full leg brace and wore it for  1 1/2 years and was HEALED!

While I wore the leg brace, my classmates in Kindergarten would push me on a chair with gliders! That picture is also in my mind forever.

I was a sickly child growing up. I had pneumonia 7 timers. I spent over a week in the hospital in 7th grade with pneumonia, missing a month of school. I fell behind in school and really never caught up with all the days I missed.

The first 20 years of my life I was in poor health. I had very bad asthma, being rushed to the hospital more than once, because I could not breathe. Then Doctor Thomas Hegstad sent me to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to an allergy specialist, Doctor Hyland. I took allergy shots for 2 years and that started to change my life, at 59 I am allergy free. I am in the best health of my life! By the way, I like to round off numbers so I just say I’m 60! And proud of it!

Being sickly for all those years created Godly empathy in me for others. The Lord has given me a heart for people, to speak the life of Jesus Christ into them.

So last night was very special for me in what the Lord gave to me. I pitched a shutout in softball! Only 1 walk! My teammates, Amistad Church,  played excellent defense, making many great plays! We won 23-0. This is a team, Congregation Albert Lions, that hit me hard the last time I face them. They beat me into the ground! LOL!

My brothers at Congregation Albert are an excellent team, Coach Charlie Brown signed the game ball last night congratulating me on the shutout!! All the players cam over to me to offer their congratulations, as a shutout in slow pitch does not happen very often. The men at Congregation Albert are faithful men of God.  I am blessed to call them my dear brothers! By the way, please keep Charlie in your prayers, as his wife passed onto glory recently.

I am thankful for the opportunity to share with you some of my miracles.

I am so very grateful to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Being a baseball fan since I was old enough to cheer for the Minnesota Twins, to being in a leg brace and being told you may not walk or run, being so sickly for 20 years to be playing ball at 60, is a miracle! It’s all about God and that is why I will spread the good news of Jesus Christ to all until the Lord calls me home! Amen!

Today, pause and think of all the miracles that God has given you.

Some of the most thankful people are widows. They thank God everyday for life.

I have kept the brace as a reminder!

I also will keep the game ball!
