Know Him

331John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Jeremiah 9:23,24 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord.

1 John 2:24,25 Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.

Eternal life is knowing the Father and Jesus Christ, whom He sent.

When we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, we become born-again as He places His Spirit in us. (John 3:16,36; 6:47; Acts 16:31) We are restored to a right relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ.

The wonderful thing is, is that it doesn’t stop there! We get to talk with the Lord and get to know Him!

You see….believing on Him and knowing Him are different.

To believe means: accept as true or real; have faith in; trust; think someone tells the truth; have a religious belief; and suppose.

To know means: be sure of; have true info about; have firmly in the mind or memory; be aware of; have seen or heard; have info about; be acquainted with; be familiar with; have an understanding of; have experience with.

Then we have abide, which means: to stay in a given place, state, relation or expectancy; continue, dwell, endure, be present and remain.

You’ve believed on Him, but do you KNOW Him? What does He like or dislike? How does He relate to others and what does He do in different situations? How does He see things?

My marriage certificate says that I am married to Ron, but I know him because I wake up with him and do life with him….we have a relationship. Just reading your Bible doesn’t mean you know the Lord….just about Him. We can experience Him and know Him on a very personal level because of what Jesus did for us.

I know Him as my Husband, Father, Friend and Helper. I trust Him completely.

He is kind and gentle, faithful and funny, strong and creative, sweet and He always, always has time for me.

He longs to hang out with His kids. Come to Him as a child.

Our daughter Gabi totally trusts Ron. She knows he would never hurt her. She also says that he knows everything. She has said to him, “I wish you could be everyone’s dad.”

That is how we should be with our Father! That’s how He wants us to know Him!

The Father wants to reveal Himself to you! John 14:15-17 tells us He sent us a Helper, the Spirit of truth.

My prayer for you is that you will ask your Helper to reveal the Father to you……to help you know Him at the deepest heart level. My prayer is that you will drop what you believe and think and take the time to know Him.

Do you hear the Father saying to you; “I just want you to know Me. Haven’t I proved Myself over and over again? I won’t let you down. I love you. Come sit with Me a while ad let’s talk things over. Don’t run from me and hide in your busyness. Rest a while and I will show you wonders.”
