Good Friday to you!

Shonda SavageThank you for joining us here on the “Cup.” I’m Shonda Savage an inspirational writer at FGGAM.org and I’m filling in for Dewey today.

We thank God for what HE is doing and working through this ministry and we thank you, our faithful readers and supporters of the ministry for taking part of what God is doing here at FGGAM.

Today grab your cup and let’s drink in some of God’s word this day.

Do you believe our God heals?

I hope you said yes! Scriptures tell us that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever (see Hebrews 13:8).

If you’ve been reading the Cup regularly this past week, I’m certain you’ve noticed all the prayer requests. That’s what I love about FGGAM is that this ministry is a praying ministry. Praise God we can bring our petitions boldly before HIS throne of grace and find mercy in time of need.

Here’s some of the prayer requests Dewey has posted this week:

Please pray for Jim Hofflander of Mankato, Minnesota. He is recovering from recent health issues in an assisted living center in Mankato. Please pray for continued healing, in Jesus name, Amen!

Please pray for Norm Merlock of Albuquerque as he continued to recover from knee replacement surgery! In Jesus name, Amen!

Please pray for Wanell Pate FGGAM Board member, as she prepares to receive radiation treatments for her cancer, we pray healing over Wanell in Jesus name, Amen!

Let us storm heaven this day and all days with prayers for Veronica, Larry, Jim, Norm, Wanell and all those in need! In Jesus name, Amen!

Let us turn to Jeremiah 17:14……….Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise.

Now we have all prayed in agreement for God to heal these precious saints, let’s remember Mark 11:24:

“Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.”

We believe God will do what He said He will do. He is the Lord God, our Healer!

“And He said, “If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the LORD, am your healer.” (Exodus 15:26 NASB)

Today I want to share with you why my faith is stirred up to believe for healing for these precious saints listed above, plus others.

Because I have been healed from the deadliest form of skin cancer – melanoma.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a mole on my left forearm. About 25 years ago I asked a doctor about it and he said it was nothing to be concerned about. Well, that was true at that time, but what I didn’t know is that if it changed that I should become concerned. I held onto the words from 25 years ago.

About two years ago, a friend of mine asked me if I’ve had the mole on my left forearm checked out. Of course, remembering that doctor visit from many years before, I said I had and it was nothing. For two years, there was this little nudging in me about it. So then I started doing some Google research (you know the self-diagnosis route first).

Sure enough, it had all the appearances of melanoma. BUT, my life was too busy for a diagnosis and treatment. We had lots to do. Trips to take. People to see. I didn’t have time, or in reality I didnt want to make the time.

Finally after the summer passed, this past fall, the Lord lured me into the wilderness to speak tenderly to me (Hosea 2:14). Literally out in the desert, the Lord orhestrated a women’s conference. I went to seek God for a supernatural healing. But what I received was a prophetic word that the healing would come through a process.

All I could say to the Lord about that was, “As long as You go with me.”

Well God was with me as He promises to never leave us or forsake us. I went through a process for healing. Of course, there was the physical process of all the doctor visits and surgery. But the spiritual process is what changed my life. The spiritual process I went through is found in Psalm 103:1-5:

Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

First, I praised God. I blessed His holy name. Second, I asked Him to show me what sins I needed to be cleansed of and I felt the godly sorrow that leads to repentance. I allowed the Lord to purge me, chastise me, and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. And when we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us of our sins. (See 1 John 1:9) Then God healed me from my disease and He redeems my life!

This past Tuesday I received confirmation from both my dermatologist and my surgical oncologist. No more melanoma. No more doctor visits for this health issue. Healed, by the grace of God in the name of Jesus!

I encourage you that if you have moles larger than the top of a pencil eraser to go see a dermatologist. To defeat melanoma, early detection is paramount!

So see my friends, healing comes. And more often than not, healing is a process. I learned through this process that the miracle was not in the moment I was healed, because there’s not a defining moment where I recognized the healing.

But the miracle was the journey through the process. The reason the miracle is found in the process is because I know God better. I have a closer relationship with Him. And my friend, I won’t trade that experience for anything.

So my precious brother and sister in Christ, if you’re in need of healing and you’re in the process, please hang onto God’s promises and never give up hope in His promise to heal. Understand that you are on a journey with our Lord and the miracle is the journey.

Not only does God heal through a process, but He also heals supernaturally. My husband, Eldon and I witnessed that just this past Wednesday.

Several months ago, Chase, our son and Eldon were wrestling with one another. Chase twisted Eldon’s left forefinger. It has hurt ever since. Eldon Google diagnosed his injury and placed his finger in a splint thinking that it will be fine after a while. But after two months of pain, he finally went to urgent care.

Wednesday morning he received x-rays at urgent care and the doctor informed him that the finger had indeed been fractured and could see where the fracture was healing. Also, the doctor saw that the ligament detached and immediately referred Eldon to an orthopedic specialist. Eldon was told that this type of injury requires surgery to repair.

Eldon informed me of the situation and was downcast about it. At this season in our lives, we are in a major transition and we do not have any room in our schedule for surgery, plus the loss of leave from work would really impact us in a negative way financially.

So just before Eldon’s Wednesday afternoon appointment to see the orthopedic doctor, we prayed for the healing of his finger. We prayed together and asked God to heal the broken bone and the torn ligament by the time he saw the specialist.

Eldon arrived at the specialist with the CD of the x-rays taken at urgent care. However, the doctor did not like the angle of the x-ray and ordered new x-rays. When the doctor read the new x-ray, Eldon was informed that there is NO FRACTURE and NO TORN LIGAMENT! Praise the Lord!

God healed my husband supernaturally this past Wednesday!

Brothers and sisters, let’s believe what God’s word says. God’s Word says He heals, therefore, we can believe God heals. Let’s leave it up to God if He takes us through the process and we find the miracle in the journey. Or if we receive supernatural intervention.

Our God heals!
