Drawing Life

Mark 6:46 Afterward He went up into the hills by Himself to pray.

Luke 5:16 But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.

Drawing Life. Our Lord Jesus knew how to draw Life from the Father. He would go away by Himself and commune with the Father. He is our perfect model for knowing how to get refreshed. Jesus was God, yet He was also Man. He got tired. There were always demands placed on Him and in order to meet those demands He would go to the Father to be refreshed and get instructions.

Philippians 2:5-7 Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. Though He was God, He did not demand and cling to His rights as God. He made Himself nothing; He took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form.

Hebrews 4:15; 5:8 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same temptations we do, yet He did not sin. So even though Jesus was God’s Son, He learned obedience from the things He suffered.

He faced all that we do……rejection, temptation, hurt and anguish, physical tiredness, yet when He went away to spend intimate time alone with His Father, He came away ready to continue on in what the Father wanted Him to do. Peaceful time with the Father…

Sometimes it can be a challenge to find time alone with your Beloved Father. We get way too busy with the doing to make the time to just be still in His presence.

I read of a woman that had over ten children, and the way she got quiet time was to throw her apron over her head. When she did this, her children knew that  Mom was spending her alone time with the Lord and they would be quiet until she removed the apron.

When we lived in Maine and still had two kids at home, I would go in this wonderful cubby upstairs and shut the door, or go outside by this copse of trees and look towards the hills.

A friend of mine would get up at 4 AM every day to spend her quiet time with the Lord, then take a nap later.

Jesus knew His strength came from His Father.

John 5:19 Jesus replied, “I assure you, the Son can do nothing by Himself. He does only what He sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.”

John 12:49,50 “I don’t speak on My own authority. The Father who sent Me gave Me His own instructions as to what I should say. And I know His instructions lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells Me to say.”

If Jesus needed that precious time of rest, then who do we think we are to try to walk in Him on our own steam?! Look at this scripture:

Philippians 2:13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey Him and the power to do what pleases Him.

My prayer and encouragement towards you is to allow your Father to refresh you. Make time for Him and you to commune alone. You will be glad you did.

I love you all. The Lord has blessed you, He loves you and really enjoys your company. He is waiting for you to come sit with Him……won’t you?
