ICEJ NEWS REPORTS: Israel mapJewish groups protest Netanyahu speech
Israel’s anti-Zionist Ultra-Orthodox (haredi) factions held a protest in front of the US Consulate in Jerusalem Tuesday holding signs saying, among other things, “The Jewish religion forbids the existence of the State of Israel.” Protest leader Rabbi Yoshua Scult said Zionists “are a political group, and they don’t have the right to hijack Judaism…it is the Zionists who wanted to bring in a political, social, and sometimes very cruel government over the Palestinians.” Meanwhile, a small group of Israeli expats in New York held a protest outside the Israeli consulate there Tuesday chanting “Netanyahu doesn’t speak for me.”
