Bibi Goes to Washington!
This week, the time finally came for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to head for Washington to deliver his highly-anticipated speech before the US Congress. The controversy over his address to a joint session of Congress had raged for weeks, as the Obama administration tried to spin it as a breach of protocol and a blow to bi-partisan support for Israel. But Netanyahu insisted it was all about Iran’s renegade nuclear program and his last shot at stopping Obama from signing a bad deal with Tehran. He also contended that Congress has an important say in how the United States should handle this grave threat to world security. Well, Netanyahu’s speech is now in the books and everyone is weighing in on how he did. So what was Netanyahu’s message to Congress and the American people? How did he handle the charge that he was just playing politics? Did he make the case for taking a tougher stand against Iran’s nuclear program? And were there any surprises in his historic speech? Bibi Goes to Washington! That’s our focus this week here on Front Page Jerusalem. We’ll have excerpts and analysis on Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu’s landmark speech before Congress this week. Will it succeed in stopping Iran in its tracks from crossing the nuclear threshold?

Decision Time in Israel!
The Israeli elections are just a few days away and it’s time for Israelis to finally make up their minds on who to vote for. The campaign season has been short yet it has still seen plenty of drama, including incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s controversial speech before Congress. Yet all along the polls have held steady in showing a tight race between the Zionist Union on the left and Netanyahu’s Likud party on the right. Now many political pundits in Israel are saying they expect Netanyahu to return as head of the next government even though they also are predicting that rival Labor leader Isaac Herzog might win more seats in the Knesset. This is because most of the other smaller parties who would sit in a coalition government prefer Netanyahu as prime minister due to his greater experience in handling the nation’s many security and foreign policy challenges. In any case, this has been a very close election and the political drama of piecing together a new government hasn’t even started yet. So what can we expect from Israeli voters when they cast their ballots? Will they defy the pollsters and return Netanyahu to power by a wide margin? Or will he and Likud be relegated to the opposition, while newcomer Herzog is given the reins of power? Could there be even a third option of a national unity government? And how much impact did Netanyahu’s speech to Congress have on the elections of 2015? Decision Time in Israel! That’s our focus next week here on Front Page Jerusalem. We’ll have one last look at the Israeli elections before voters go to the polls to choose a new government. We’ll be hearing from top Israeli political analysts on what to expect.
