We are going to look at some problems that Alcoholism can create in us physically. The first one we will look at is Demenetia. I am posting a link that talks about Alcohol Related Dementia.

Although this article talks about the brain deteriorating with continued use, I have seen miraculous turn arounds when people do stop. I once knew a man who, because of his abuse of alcohol, had a shrunken brain, could not remember much, and also had a hard time learning. When he stopped, his brain started to became healed. The Doctors were amazed that it grew back and he also was able to start remembering and learning again.

Remember that we have one who can save us from things like this. That is Jesus Christ Himself. He told us to cast our Burdens on Him (Matthew 11:28-29). When we do, we find that we are no longer trying to find a way to cover up our pain or trying to bury our sorrows, which, can lead to alcohol addiciton.

We are also encouraced to take each other’s burdens (Galatians 6). This is so we can encourage each other to depend on Jesus, and also help each other from falling into sin and addicitons, or even to stay away from that which we struggle with.

Let’s look to Him and help each other.

Until next time:

Ezekiel 37:1-6 (NKJV): The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. 2 Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry. 3 And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.”

4 Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6 I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.”’”
