Let’s tell the fleeing Christians of Mosul that you stand with them! Sadly, because of the ‘Islamic State’ terrorist group and their barrage of threats and murders, all Christians in Mosul are now gone. About 3,000 of them remained until last weekend. To add insult to injury, the Islamic State terrorists took every woman’s wedding ring from them as they left Mosul. Later on, they bragged about it on twitter claiming that they “humiliated the Christians.” They also boasted “Mosul is Christian Free!” Sick!
For the first time in well over 1700 years there was not one worship service yesterday in this famed city of the Bible also known as Ninevah. In the Old Testament, the Prophet Jonah preached here, and the city repented en masse. The Prophet Ezekiel lived here during Israel’s Babylonian Captivity. A picture of an early Christian Monastery named after Ezekiel in Mosul is pictured below. The church in Mosul goes back to the early days of Christianity and amazingly, it survived here even though Arab Muslims conquered the region in the 600’s AD. Yet despite the odds, Mosul remained a center for Christianity in the Middle East. e3 Partners leaders helped plant churches here in the last few years. As followers of Christ, we all feel the loss. When one brother or sister hurts, we all hurt.

So what do we do? Do we just sit back and let this happen? We’re saying no! Our leaders are welcoming these refugees into the Kurdish cities that they’ve been exiled to. Here is how you can help. They need food, clothes, and other necessities right now. Just show your support by clicking on the link and we’ll get the funds to our e3 Iraqi leaders immediately who are standing by waiting and praying. www.e3partners.org/iraq Once you get to the e3 site and go to the “designation” space, just hit the drop down and click “e3 Iraq.” Thank you!

In closing, Sean from Israel just shared with us something that is very important. It seems the Islamic State spray painted the Arabic letter “nun” on the homes of Christians in Mosul as pictured below What does the letter nun stand for? “Nasrani” which means Christian in Arabic. It comes from the word Nazarene or literally “from Nazareth.” The early church was in Mosul and despite the ups and downs of how it began, and their sometimes questionable theology, they survived.
I follow Jesus- I’m a Nazarene. How about you? Let’s stand with our Iraqi brothers and sisters today.
