As reported in an article in the Columbus, Indiana Republic, William Aubrey, a Mesquite, Nevada builder, who claims to have built thousands of affordable homes for Navajo tribal members on the Arizona and New Mexico reservation, was sentenced to 51 months in jail for embezzling tribal building funds.  He was reported to have spent the money on gambling, grooming and training racehorses, and other personal items.

His attorney said that Mr. Aubrey comingled personal and business funds, so he lost track of what his business expenses were. Mr. Aubrey sort of apologized, but wondered why he was being punished for producing thousands of inexpensive homes for the Navajo people.
